The NEW Pondo Pedal ADVENTURE is the more “chilled” cousin of the Pondo Pedal Race. This event is done individually, however competitors can choose to ride together if they like. There will only be space for 80 riders at each years event, giving each rider an exclusive insight into the beautiful riding landscape.
The Adventure gives individual riders and their families an opportunity to soak up and really enjoy Umngazi’s warm hospitality while Touring along Africa’s most beautiful coastline.
Situated in the lush, indigenous surroundings of the breathtaking Wild Coast in the Eastern Cape, award winning Umngazi River Bungalows & Spa offers the opportunity of cycling one of the most beautiful, unspoilt coastlines along the South African coast.
Each days ride will start and finish at Umngazi River Bungalows, allowing Husbands or wives to either ride or relax while their kids play at Umngazi. Each days MTB routes range between 30km and 35km consisting of varied terrain, from single and cattle track to district roads and mangrove trails.
The focus of the Pondo Pedal Adventure is to give riders an exclusive and upmarket MTB event that the competitors can do with their families along side them. Each day’s route will be challenging, but will give each rider a great sense of accomplishment and a relaxing and enjoyable break from city life. The Adventures caters for weekend warriors to pro athletes. Each day routes will be challenging and Riders will need to be in a good physical condition with a fair level of fitness to be able to conquer the numerous Pondoland Hills and valleys. Families will be allowed each day to go out onto the cycling routes “where possible” to see their loved ones in action. |
